There is nothing more deflating than to have labored over something only to have it shot down or questioned by some dilbert who feels entitled to offer up his/her criticism and suggestions. Example: genealogy After many hours of research I determine that we have a 4th great grandfather who not only served in the Revolutionary War, but was a personal friend of the renowned Lafayette. I share this information with some relative who 30 minutes before didn't even know the ancestor's name, but now they have channeled his spirit and are able to inform me that I must be mistaken. How could I possibly know this? What makes me think I am correct? Perhaps we are sensitive to this unsolicited "help" because we come from a family that thrives on self-deprecation and low self-esteem. We were raised on it, Bubba. So climb up on your soap box and rant on, but please leave enough room for me to get up there, too.

Comment on Leave Me Alone!

Reckon it comes in cookie jar form???

Comment on Words to Live By

That's as good as the time she answered the phone while sound asleep and told the unsuspecting caller that she "was just calling to place a bid on that puppy."

Comment on Words to Live By

lol...sounds like her! I thought "what the heck....I won't do the laundry." And wouldn't you know it? The world spins on, albeit slightly off its axis, and I have a pile of dirty towels.
